A corsage is worn by the date attending in a dress, either on the wrist or pinned at the shoulder — wrist corsages have become the standard because they do not risk snagging delicate fabric with a pin. A boutonniere is a single small bloom worn on the lapel by the date in a suit or tux. Both should echo each other in color and style without being identical — think coordinated, not matching.
🌸 Matching Flowers to a Dress Without a Fabric Swatch
Most people do not have an actual swatch of the dress fabric when they order, and that is fine. A photo on a phone is usually enough for us to pick a close, complementary color rather than an exact match — exact matches are hard to guarantee with natural flowers anyway, and a slightly different but harmonious shade almost always looks better in photos than people expect. When in doubt, white, cream, or blush flowers pair safely with nearly any dress color.
⏰ The Timing Mistake Almost Everyone Makes
Prom dates get locked in months ahead, but flower orders routinely come in the week of, sometimes the day before. Order at least two weeks out if you can — it gives us time to source the specific colors and styles well rather than working with whatever is left. If you are reading this the week of prom, do not panic; same-day and next-day corsage and boutonniere orders are absolutely still possible, just with somewhat more limited color choice.

📸 Beyond the Wrist and Lapel
Some groups also order a small bouquet for pre-dance photos, especially for larger friend groups doing a joint photo session before dinner or the dance itself. This is optional, but it photographs beautifully and gives everyone something to hold besides their phone.
